What is DB-WhySoHeavy?
DB-WhySoHeavy is a lightweight cross-platform database GUI for MySQL 5.7+ and PostgreSQL 12+, with a SQL editor, visual table management, and data import/export on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Is DB-WhySoHeavy free?
Yes. The app is free to download and activation codes are free and renewable, with no account or credit card required. For long-term or commercial use, premium activation codes are available on request.
How do I get an activation code and how long is it valid?
Find your client UUID in the app, then enter it on the "Get activation code" page to get one for free. Free codes are valid for 30 days by default — just grab a new one before it expires; it is free and renewable.
Where do I find my client UUID?
The UUID is shown when the app starts; you can also visit /api/check-activation while it is running.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10/11 (AMD64), macOS 10.15+ (Intel and Apple Silicon), and Ubuntu 18.04+ and other Linux distributions (AMD64).
Do I need internet after activation?
No. Activation codes are verified locally with RSA signatures; once activated, the app works fully offline and your data stays on your machine.
Is my database password safe?
Connection info is stored locally and passwords are encrypted — never written to config files in plain text and never uploaded to any server.
Does it support SSH tunneling?
Yes. A built-in SSH tunnel (password auth) lets you connect directly to databases in private networks or the cloud.
Which databases are supported?
Currently supports MySQL 5.7+ and PostgreSQL 12+, covering everyday querying, table management, and data import/export.
How do I import and export data?
Supports database/table-level DDL and data export, and one-click SQL file import.
Why is PostgreSQL export/import unavailable on some Linux systems?
Export/import uses the bundled official tools (mysqldump / pg_dump, etc.). PostgreSQL officially provides PG 18 client tools only for still-supported systems, which require glibc 2.35+ (Ubuntu 22.04 and newer). As a result, PostgreSQL export/import is unavailable on Ubuntu 18.04 / 20.04; MySQL is unaffected (official builds support older systems). Please use Ubuntu 22.04+ or upgrade your operating system.
How do I update to a new version?
The app has built-in version checks, and you can always get the latest version from the download page. We recommend backing up your local connection config before updating.
